Count your blessings and name them one by one

Count your blessings and see what God has done

And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

This is a song we sing in most of our churches. Do we really take time out to count our blessings or do we spend more time counting our problems? We talk so much about our problems, that we magnify our problems above our God. The psalmist said in Psalm 34 ‘ oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt his name together . Please, read the psalm and you will be encouraged to bless the Lord.

I sat down and l began to meditate on what l have gone through this year and how God has delivered me from what could have made me fall but l am still standing. I forget sometimes because l am human, but God in his mercy always reminded me of where he brought me from. We are at the beginning of another year. I don’t know about you, but last year went so fast that it scares me.

I struggled so much last year to be in the Christmas mood because it came so quick.

I remember saying “happy new year” and another year is here again. I was speaking to a friend on the phone about the prophecies for this year and it suddenly dawn on me that we had the same conversation exactly a year ago. You can not avoid to waste your time. You can never take back whatever time you wasted doing nothing. We all have 24hours in a day. You are accountable for your time. Take stock of your life and you will know how to thank God. You might be struggling to thank God because of the many challenges you went through this year, but you are still here and God kept you for a reason. Many people started this year and they are no more. You need to ask yourself why you are still here? What is your purpose. What are the lessons you learned from what you went through this year?
The difference between the rich and poor is how they use their time, turn their challenges to opportunities, and get blessed doing it. Someone told me of how a shoe sales man went to a town and no one was wearing shoes and he thought there is no point. Another sales man saw an opportunity to introduce the shoes to them and make a lot of money. What do you see when you are confronted with a situation? My husband started a property business because we were homeless for so long. I remember a long time ago l was on holiday with my husband in New York and we stayed with a friend who was very negative towards life. He told us many negative stories of people who started business in New York and failed and one day l was tired of the stories, so l asked him do you have any successful stories of who actually made it, you see sometimes we used this negative stories to make us feel better about our lives, instead of challenging ourself to be like successful people around us. They have one head like you. They are just as determine and consistent on whatever they are doing. I have heard many of our black foes always saying l would never make it because l am black; suddenly Obama became the first black president of the most powerful country in the world. What other excuses do you have? I am not perfect but l am determined to use whatever God has given me to bless the humanity and when l am gone my name will not be forgotten. A life without a purpose is wasted and meaningless. The question is ‘why are you in this world’ if you don’t know the answer take it to God in prayer after all he is your Maker. Just because you don’t do anything doesn’t mean you don’t need to make a decision, what you don’t realise is that life will make the decision for you . Imagine yourself standing in the middle of the road, you either choose where you want to cross to or risk being knocked down by the motorist. I pray to God to interrupt my decisions all the time. I hope you will be bold enough to pray the same prayer. Happy new year to you. Your best is yet to come .
